Bargain Kiddie Crafts Part 1

Welcome to my new blog series: Bargain Kiddie Crafts.  My little guy, Christian, is finally at the age (3 1/2) where he enjoys doing arts and crafts.  I have been waiting for this age for what feels like forever!  I loved doing arts and crafts as a little kid.  In fact, my mom still has some of my earliest art projects.  Quality kiddo time + crafts + a good bargain = one happy mommy.

Christian's  cousin, Faye, is visiting for a few days.  I thought it would be nice to incorporate some craft time into all of the fun.   I decided to start the kids off with these super cute canvas totes from Dollar Tree.

They were both happy and excited to see this craft project.  Christian chose to color the whale, and Faye chose the owl.  Peace, quiet, and coloring.

Once the kids finished coloring their canvas totes, they had something to put their craft supplies in.  So, they each got to do a craft, and have a fun way to keep pens, crayons, and glue sticks organized for $1 each.  Bargain city!

Could anything be better than $1 for a cute little craft?  How about free!  Right now you can get a  Kiwi Crate Free Trial for their Rad Rockets projects.  The crate includes:
  • All the materials to build your pair of rockets
  • Bonus flight chart to help measure distance traveled
  • Set of metallic markers and pom poms to personalize your rockets
  • 16 page explore! magazine filled with kid-friendly recipes, puzzles and a bonus gliding airplane
Creativity kits for kids!

While the crate itself it free,  you still have to pay $3.95 for the shipping.  But even then, for all that's included, I  think this a great bargain kiddie craft.  Christian's trial is on its way in the mail right now, and we can't wait!

Finally, did you know that Michael's has a kid's craft Summer program?  For only $2 a class, your child gets to make a project and you get to shop in the store.  Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10am -Noon, from now until August 1st, Michael's is offering these classes based on seven museums throughout the US.  Next week's Museum is the Pima Air and Space Museum and the projects look so cute.  Here's one of them from Michael's website:

How's that for a bargain?  $2 for a project and I get to browse craft supplies without Christian trying to throw everything he sees into the basket.

Make sure to check back next week for part 2 of Bargain Kiddie Crafts.
