All opinions are mine alone. #AngryForSavings #CollectiveBias  I laughed, I cried, I got ANGRY..... and then I laughed some more.  Have you seen The Angry Birds movie?  It's pretty hilarious.  Since the little guy started kindergarten this past week, I wanted to do something special over the weekend to celebrate.  We decided to invite over some friends and have an Angry Birds movie viewing party.
You know I'll use any excuse to decorate some sugar cookies.  For our party I wanted to make "Red" and pig cookies.
I used my favorite sugar cookie recipe and made the cookies in the shape of circles.  Then I mixed up some royal icing using meringue powder, powdered sugar, water, and food coloring.  I always use a simple sandwich bag with one of the corners snipped off to decorate the cookies.
To make the "Red" cookies, I started by flooding a cookie with royal icing in red, and allowing that to dry overnight.  Then I added the detail by piping on a yellow beak.  Then I used white royal icing for the main part of the eye and allowed that to dry for about half an hour.  Once the white was dry enough, I added brown icing for the iris.  Lastly, I piped on dots of black icing for the pupils and filled in the angry eyebrows.
The pig cookies started out the same as the "Red" cookies.  I flooded the cookie with green icing and allowed that to dry overnight.  Then I piped on the pig noses with the same green icing.  Two dots of white icing made the eyes and I allowed those to dry for about half an hour.  I finished off the eyes with two small black dots and I made two dots in different sizes for the nose.  Depending on if I wanted the pigs to look angry or surprised, I placed the eyebrows angled either up or down.  The surprised pigs also got a dot of black for the mouth.
I think they turned out pretty cute.

I also wanted to make "Chuck" pretzels.
I melted some yellow candy melts in a tall glass and coated my pretzel rods.  Once I had enough dipped pretzels, I took some of the left over melted candy and added some red food coloring to make orange.  I added the melted candy to a sandwich bag and sniped off the tip to pipe on bird beaks.  I needed to work really fast because unlike the royal icing, the candy melts harden quickly.  Next, I piped on some white dots for the eyes using the same royal icing that I used on the cookies.  After the eyes were dried (about 20 minutes)  I used a black edible marker to complete the eyes.  To finish off the "Chuck" pretzels, I used an orange edible marker to draw on his eye brows.

I didn't want to forget about Bomb, so I made some Bomb cupcakes.  I used black cupcake liners, and added some black food coloring to store bought chocolate frosting.  Then I used some black sanding sugar to top them off.

Mighty Eagle is one of my favorite characters in the movie.  I definitely wanted to give him a shout out on my party table by labeling the barbecue wings "Mighty Eagle Wings."
We also needed some TNT, so I set out some red licorice.
I needed something for the kids to drink, so I set out little juices in the bird colors.
Last, but certainly not least, I needed some eggs.  The whole movie is based on stealing and saving the eggs.  So, I took some yogurt covered raisins and placed them in brown snack cups to look like nests.
Here are my little guys waiting for their friends to arrive to get the party started.  Christian wanted to wear a King Mudbeard crown.
Earlier this summer I told you about how you can get a free movie on VUDU every month per line for $49.88 with the Walmart Family Mobile PLUS plan.  This plan is great because it includes unlimited talk, text, and data with up to 10 GB 4G LTE. I need all of that extra data because Instagram and Pinterest pretty much consume my life. I really love that since Family Mobile bills you later, you only have to pay $19.88 when you sign up.
I already have the Walmart Family Mobile PLUS plan, but I decided I wanted a new phone.   I picked up the Coolpad Catalyst for $59.88.  As I was shopping at Walmart, I saw the plan had an Angry Birds display.  If you scan the code on the display it will unlock a selfie augmented reality experience with the Hatchlings! Also, if you visit a Walmart Family Mobile event table, you can scan a code to receive a free power up for the Endless Runner Game on the Angry Birds Action! app.  You can find an in-store event near you here.
Even though I can watch my free VUDU movie on my new phone, I can also watch it on my TV with my Roku.   Not only did I want a fun buffet table, I wanted the movie viewing experience to be decorated too. For other fun and engaging movies, check out the beetlejuice 2 release date.
I covered the wall behind my TV with a blue plastic table cloth. I cut out some clouds from white paper and taped those to the plastic.  I also wanted some TNT, so I blow up red twisty balloons and wrapped them with strips of black paper.  There's another King Mudbeard crown on top of the TV, and a yellow tissue ball to look like Chuck.  I also covered some empty boxes in wood grain wrapping paper and taped some TNT signs to them.
For the buffet table I also added a grass table skirt and moss runner for decoration.
This party was so much fun and the kids had a great time.
