Ready for a spooktacularly good time? This past weekend I threw a black and gold Halloween dinner party for some close friends and can't wait to share the pictures with you!
I love Halloween. But not the super scary or gory stuff - yuck! And even though kids are always welcome at our parties, this Halloween I wanted to have a sophisticated soiree.

Earlier this week I posted my glam cemetery trunk or treat. That post was sponsored by Oriental Trading and I loved the props so much that I decided to use most of them for this party too. In fact, the gold bones were the inspiration for this black and gold Halloween dinner party. There's a whole disassembled gold skeleton that is in this set, so I used the bones on the dinner table, dessert table, and also on the dinner buffet table.
I was lucky enough to have 150 Sunset located here in El Paso provide the flower arrangements for my party. They added a wonderful pop of my color on my buffet tables.
And since I wanted this Halloween party to be extra special, I rented these awesome gold Chiavari chairs from Ton of Linens. They made such a difference to the whole look of the party.
For the dessert buffet, I made all of the tasty morsels via my El Paso based home bakery - Desert Flours Bakery. We had caramel apples, macarons, cupcakes, and sugar cookies. You may also recognize this backdrop prop form my glam cemetery trunk or treat. I love this stockade prop from Oriental Trading draped with creepy cloth.
Aren't these cupcake wrappers adorable? I made them with my Cricut.
By the way, I made the sugar cookies the exact same way that I did for my unicorn cookies. You can check out that tutorial here, and find the Cricut stencil files for these cookies here: spider stencil, ghost stencil, and spooky stencil.
Guess what? I hate cleaning up dishes after parties. So.... I used plastic everything! Table cloths, table skirts, plates, and utensils. But can you even tell?
For the dinner buffet table, I bumped the table up against the outside of my bedroom window. I knew I for sure wanted a backdrop, but I wanted something easy and affordable. So, I covered the window in wrapping paper and added rosettes that I made with my Cricut Explore One™.
So, that's my party setup in daylight, but of course a true Halloween party needs to be held at night.
I was happy to see some guests come in costume.
On the wall with the dessert buffet, I had one of those rotating lights projecting ghosts.
On the dinner buffet table, we had salad served with skeleton hand tongs, garlic rolls, lasagna, and a cured meats appetizer plate.
Lots of candles lit up the dinner table.
