All opinions are mine alone. #DamageFreeHoliday #CollectiveBias #CBias Hooray!  It's finally totally appropriate to decorate for Christmas!  Every year, I try to go with a different color theme.  One year I wanted everything blue and silver.  The year after that all of my decor was leopard print with gold and bronze.  Last year, I had all of my decorations very natural with lots of burlap and glittered pine cones.  This year, I've been obsessed with plaid, so I wanted to go with black, red, and classic tartan with pops of gold.

Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year, and I love decorating my house, especially with pieces such as vintage rugs. But I'm one of those people who refuses to put up Christmas decorations until after Thanksgiving. I also have 2 little boys who's birthdays are both in the first week of December. So, I switch up my home decor from Fall to birthday (this year it's dinosaur themed) to Christmas all within a week and a half.

I have a little secret: since I switch out my decor so much, including my seasonal decor from year to year, I never permanently attach ANYTHING to my base materials when I'm creating diy decor.  I use the same wreath form for my front door and over my fireplace mantel the entire year by changing out the mesh or ribbon.   I also keep all of my Christmas garlands, wreaths, and swags far away from my hot glue gun.  I simply add my accent pieces to change out the look with temporary attachments. I like to do this because it saves me money and it saves me storage space.  Can you imagine if I had to make room for all of those different color themed decorations!

Instead, I can just neatly pack away my naked Christmas garlands, wreaths, and swags, and organize my ornaments, picks, and ribbons by color.

I also cannot commit to nail placement in my walls.  I use Command™ Brand products all over my house year round for practical purposes, but they are especially useful this time of the year.   So, even though I usually have a few extra Command™ Brand products on hand, I headed out to Walmart to purchase what I needed for this season's decorating.

I like to get festive and cover my walls as much as possible!  Come January, I'd be pretty annoyed with myself at the number of holes in my walls if I was using nails.  This year, I picked up Command™ Small Wire Hooks, Command™ Medium Designer Hooks, and Command™ Clear Decorating Clips.

On to decorating! I already knew I wanted the red and tartan ribbon when I was putting up my tree.

And then I decided I wanted to add the black.  My wall decor started with this "let it snow" sign.  I used a black poster board and cut out the snow flakes and wording from white cardstock.  Then I added some pine cones, red berries, and ornaments to 2 of my plain swags.  I punched holes through the poster board to attach the swags with floral wire.  I did glue the ribbon to the poster board, but I figured I could sacrifice the board and 50 cents worth of ribbon when Christmas is over.

After my main sign was done, I made 2 hanging ribbon decorations with rosettes that said "joy" and "noel."  I think I'll make a matching "peace" wall hanging to go in my kitchen.  Come back for that tutorial next week.

Of course you have to have Christmas stockings and garland too!  To get all of my decor up on the wall, I used 2 of the Command™ Clear Decorating Clips to hang my sign, the Command™ Small Wire Hooks to hang my ribbon/rosette wall hangings and garland, and the  Command™ Medium Designer Hooks for the stockings.

I love how the wall turned out.

On the other side of the room, I have a hutch that I also like to decorate.  Obviously I would never use nails to attach anything to this lovely piece.  I also have shutters that I wanted decorated so it was  Command™ Brand product to the rescue once again.

I can't wait for my family and friends to sit down and enjoy the room with Christmas carols and cups of hot chocolate.

Believe it or not, this is not the only room that is getting a Christmas tree and fully decked out.  But since the boys' party is this weekend, I'm waiting until after that to tackle our main living space.

If I decide to have any of the dinosaur fun spill into this room too, everything from this wall can come down in less than a minute this weekend and dinosaur party stuff can up for the day.

I actually still have the Command™ Small Wire Hooks on my kitchen walls from our last party so their "happy birthday" banner can go straight up. I love these modern times!

In case you'd like to see how fast I was able to get my black, red, and tartan Christmas decor up, I included a video for you.

By the way, taking down the Command™ Brand products is just as easy as putting them up and you'd never even know they were there.

I can't wait to see how some of my fellow bloggers are decorating their homes with Command™   Brand products this Christmas.  You can check out some of those posts here.   So, what's your decor looking like this season?  And I hope you'll be keeping your walls happy and damage free!
