On a hot summer day, there's nothing quite like cooling down with a delicately flavored hydrating drink such as an agua fresca. In English, agua fresca translates to "fresh water." These beverages are made using fresh fruit, a sweetener and of course, lots of water.
One of my favorite things about living in El Paso was that you could find so many delicious aguas frescas pretty much anywhere you went. There are so many amazing agua fresca recipes to choose from - strawberry, watermelon, and cucumber lime just to name a few. Fortunately, they're pretty easy to make and today I'm sharing with you this yummy cucumber cantaloupe agua fresca recipe. If you already love flavored water, this sweetened cucumber melon water is definitely for you!
How to Make This Cucumber Cantaloupe Agua Fresca Recipe
As I mentioned earlier, making an agua fresca is really easy. You'll need a blender as well as a serving pitcher or a large agua fresca jar like the ones you'd find where aguas frescas are typically sold.
Here are the ingredients that you will need to make cucumber cantaloupe agua fresca:
- cantaloupe
- cucumber
- sugar
- water
First, remove the seeds from the cantaloupe and cut it into chucks making sure to completely remove the rind. Peel and slice the cucumber as well. You can actually any use any kind of cucumber, I just prefer the English kind since the skin isn't as hard and waxy.
Add the cantaloupe, cucumber, and sugar to a blender and turn it on until everything is well blended. If your blender is having a hard time getting started, you can add a little water to get it going. My cantaloupe was not especially ripe, so I used a little more sugar than I would have if the fruit had been more sweet.
Once blended, add the mix to your serving pitcher and top with water. Stir, pour over ice and enjoy!

I love how this cucumber cantaloupe agua fresca makes a great mocktail especially when you add a pretty garnish. Here I used mint, cucumber slices and melon balls on a long toothpick for my garnish. I like using a mandoline to get even cucumber slices and a melon baller for the cantaloupe.
Since I wasn't having a party when I made a batch of this cucumber cantaloupe agua fresca, my family and I just kept grabbing glasses of it throughout the day. I even took some with me while running errands. Aren't these glass to go cups I found on Amazon fabulous? I'm planning on adding some vinyl decals I'm going to make with my Cricut to these glasses when I get a chance.
