They’d be adorable for birthdays, bridal showers, or even a National Donut Day celebration. Plus, the layered paper donut on top adds a playful touch that looks fancy but is surprisingly easy to assemble. Donut Party Favor Box Supplies
- Cricut Machine
- StandardGrip Mat
- 3 different colors of cardstock
- kraftboard
- scoring wheel or scoring stylus
- glue stick
- foam tape
This project works with any Cricut machine that supports scoring lines. If you’re using a Cricut Maker, the scoring wheel will give you the crispest folds—if you can find yours (mine’s currently MIA… sigh 😅). Luckily, the scoring stylus worked just fine! Honestly, I sometimes prefer the stylus because it lets me skip the tool swap and just press “go” without hovering over the machine. As for material, I used kraftboard for sturdiness, but poster board is a great alternative if that’s what you have on hand.
How to Make DIY Donut Favor Boxes
Start by opening the project in Cricut Design Space. When you're ready to cut, make sure to select the correct material from the dropdown menu—this helps get clean cuts and proper scoring. If you're using the scoring stylus instead of the double scoring wheel, don’t forget to edit your tools before hitting “make it.” For one donut favor box, you’ll end up with five pieces total: two for the box (top and bottom) and three for the donut topper (the base, frosting layer, and sprinkle cutout).
To assemble the box, begin by folding along all the scored lines—this helps the shape come together nice and crisp. Next, tuck each tab into the slot right next to it. The fit is snug, so you’ll get a clean, seamless look without needing a single drop of glue (yay for mess-free crafting!). Once you’ve assembled both the top and bottom pieces, they should slide together perfectly to form a cute little hexagon box. It only takes a few minutes from start to finish—simple, satisfying, and totally adorable!
To assemble the paper donut topper, start by applying glue to the back of the frosting layer—the one with the sprinkle cutouts. I like to use a scrap piece of paper underneath while gluing to catch any extra glue that might seep through the openings. Once it’s coated, press it onto the solid frosting piece to create a fun layered look. Then, add glue to the back of your finished frosting and attach it to the base donut cutout. That’s it! You’ve got a sweet little embellishment ready to top your favor box.
To give the finished box a little extra pop, I love adding dimension with foam tape. Just flip your assembled donut over and place a few foam adhesive squares or strips on the back. Then gently press it onto the top of the box. This small detail makes a big difference—it gives the project a more polished, professional look and makes that sweet little donut stand out!
