Late last spring, my mother and I were channel surfing and landed on PBS. It was in the middle of an early season 3 episode of Downton Abbey. We are both huge period drama fans and were intrigued. We watched the end of that episode as well as the following that broadcast.
We didn't really give Downton Abbey much thought after that until the Summer came along. I had decided to get rid of our cable, which led to many a trip to Blockbuster. During one rent one get one free Wednesday, I decided to pick up the first disc of Downton Abbey.
My mother and I were GLUED to the TV. It was already past midnight, so I couldn't go get the next Downton Abbey DVD. The following day, I rented about 4 discs. It took us 2 days to watch all of the episodes. Fast forward less than 1 1/2 weeks, and we were completely caught up with the series. That was back in September, and both of us were devastated (maybe that's a little dramatic) that we had to wait until January 5th to find out what happens next.
Now that it's so close, I want to be well prepared. We are going to rewatch the entire series. I think it will be so much fun, since it looks like we might pull my Dad in on the Downton Abbey craze as well.
For premiere night, the China Tea set is coming out along with some goodies.
I'm actually watching Downton Abbey right now, and figured we didn't need to wait to be fancy. I found these items at Cost Plus World Market that I thought would be perfect for premiere night.
Of course, I needed to try them out first 🙂 So, tonight we are enjoying these raspberry white chocolate scones and mincemeat tarts along with tea and tea sandwiches. By the way, I have a new favorite dessert in mincemeat tarts (yummy!)
I had so much fun shopping, and am super happy with my choices. I'm definitely going to go back before the Downton Abbey Season 4 premiere to see what else would be good for our little party.
In addition to this, I'm also planning on making Mint Juleps since Downton Abbey is moving into the 1920's. And there will certainly be a Do Not Disturb sign hung on the front door when the episode is on. For more Downton Abbey party ideas, check out my board on Pinterest.
