Are you ready for one of the easiest Halloween Dollar Tree crafts you can make? These fake taxidermy spider decorations use a few supplies you can pick up at Dollar Tree and can be made with just a few minutes of hands on time.

This is probably my favorite diy Halloween decoration I've ever made. Dollar Tree has fantastic fake tarantula spiders and I always love to use them in my Halloween decor. They look so real and creepy! I have some up on wreaths and in this year's Halloween Tree.
As I was shopping in Dollar Tree this summer, I came across their brand new gold framed chalkboards and immediately thought they would be perfect for a Halloween decoration. I'm pretty much always thinking about Halloween and even started a year round Halloween Instagram account.
As I was thinking about how I wanted to use the gold framed chalkboards for Halloween, the Dollar Tree spiders came to mind. Bingo!!!! Making a fake taxidermy spider would be perfect.
Although insect and spider taxidermy is actually referred to as pinning or mounting. We have a display of beautiful pinned butterflies in the entryway of my house which inspired this craft.
Halloween Dollar Tree Craft Supplies Needed to Make Fake Taxidermy Spiders
You only need a few items from Dollar Tree to make this diy Halloween decoration.
- a gold framed chalkboard
- reindeer moss
- fake tarantulas
You'll also need:
- glue
- paintbrush
- glue gun
- glue sticks
How to Make a Fake Taxidermy Spider Halloween Craft
Step 1: Cover the surface of the chalkboard with glue. Use a paintbrush to spread the glue evenly over the chalkboard
Step 2: Add the reindeer moss. I like to start with the drier moss as it falls apart easier. Finish with the greener moss until you're happy with the coverage.
Step 3: Press down on the moss to make sure it's attached to the glue. I like to use a gloved hand so my fingers don't end up covered with glue and moss. Set the chalkboard aside and allow to dry for about an hour before the next step.
Step 4: Decide on the placement for your fake tarantula.
Step 5: Use a glue gun to add hot glue to the body of the spider and where the legs will attach to the frame. Place the spider down and apply light pressure.
Step 6: There will probably be a small gap between the upper part of the spider's body and the chalkboard. Use your glue gun to fill in the gap and tuck in more moss to cover the hot glue
