I discovered how much I love body scrub my senior year of high school.  I love the different scents and the way my skin feels silky smooth after using.  So, for a little over 10 years I have been spending between $15 and $20 a jar on my body scrub obsession.   Pure craziness!  It's super easy to make body scrub at home, and there is almost no way you can go wrong.

Today I decided I would be mixing up Coconut Lime Sugar scrub.

the supplies
For this scrub I used coconut oil, granular sugar, and lime zest.  Coconut oil is moisturizing and is supposed to be really good for your skin.  Granular sugar acts as the exfoliating factor in this scrub, and the lime zest is added just because I like the way it smells mixed with the coconut oil.
recycled hair mask jar filled 1/3 of the way with sugar
I began by filling my recycled hair mask jar 1/3 of the way with my sugar.(By the way, I peeled off the label and then got rid of the residue by using olive oil and a paper towel.  Small circular motions and it took about 5 minutes.)
after adding the lime zest
Next I used the small hole side of my cheese grater to grate the lime zest.  I used a baby bottle brush to get it all off of the grater and added the zest directly to my sugar.
adding the coconut oil
Then I added my coconut oil.  I added enough oil so that it looked equal to the amount of sugar I had in the jar.  The oil sat on top of the sugar, so I used a spoon to give it a good stir.  I then added more coconut oil so that about a centimeter sat on top of the mixture.
all done!
And that's it! Super easy and a fraction of the cost of store bought body scrubs.  This scrub leaves my skin feeling moisturized and smooth and I love the scent.

Of course, there are many different combinations to try.  Coconut and Olive oil are my oils of choice and I like to use granular sugar, brown sugar, and coarse salt for my scrub options.  Next time, I'll be infusing some olive oil with rosemary and lemon peels before mixing that up with some coarse salt.
