My kids LOVE hot chocolate. And so do I. Maybe you do too? If so, you're going to love this ultimate hot chocolate bar set up.
We had a day of snowfall last week! We almost never get snow here in west Texas. It snowed the day after Christmas 2 years ago, but that was pretty much it. So last week was exciting. The snow didn't stick around - in fact, this weekend I was able to go outside in short sleeves again. But, I think we'll be getting colder weather again soon. And what better way to warm up than with some delicious hot chocolate?
Any good hot chocolate bar set up has to have the basics - hot water, cocoa mix, and probably whipped cream. But to add a special touch, candy canes are a must! I don't know about you, but I think peppermint flavored hot chocolate is the best. I also like to include rolled chocolate wafer cookies.
I was at a blogger's conference earlier this year where they had rock candy stir sticks for the coffee. I loved the idea and wanted to include it in this setup.
Do you recognize the cups from my Christmas morning breakfast? They're perfect for serving up some fancy hot chocolate.
I picked up these coasters from Oriental Trading Company for the cocoa cups to go on our coffee table.
Popcorn on a hot chocolate bar? I know.... it doesn't really belong. BUT, it has become one of our family traditions to drink cocoa and eat popcorn for family Christmas movie night (I think we've watched Elf six times already this year.)
I also wanted to include some hot chocolate toppings - mini marshmallows, chocolate chips, and crushed peppermints.
Aren't you diggin' all of the buffalo plaid? Oriental Trading Company has a ton of items in this festive buffalo plaid this season. Not only is it good for Christmas, but imagine this set up at a fun lumber jack party any time of the year. The buffalo plaid paper snack bowls, ceramic bowls, and fabric table runner are all from Oriental Trading. I love these buffalo plaid chalk board table cards.
Also from Oriental Trading Company are the tabletop trees and the grey nesting trays.
This hot chocolate bar was a winner for family movie night. I think I'll keep a mini version set up all winter long.
