I love getting tumblers from Dollar Tree.  One of my things is that I always have to have a beverage with me in the car.  So, instead of my habit of going through the drive thru on a daily basis for a soda, I like to fill up a tumbler at home.  It saves me money and I'm not consuming so many empty calories.  I really like to use my tumblers for smoothies.  Unfortunately, if you don't rinse the straw after a smoothie, it's pretty difficult to get clean.  It's so hard, that I use to regularly throw the straws away.

Since I was getting my tumblers from Dollar Tree, throwing the straws away wasn't a huge deal. But then it seemed like I was buying a new tumbler on every shopping trip.  It was getting a little ridiculous.  So how do you clean your tumbler straw?  With this:

This little gem is a toddler cup brush.  The bristles fit perfectly into a tumbler straw and is long enough to get past the middle of the straw to clean from both ends.

These can be found on the baby aisle near the toddler feeding equipment.  I randomly bought a pack of these toddler cup brushes a while ago on a  baby supply shopping trip at Kmart.  It was only after I was getting frustrated that I let another straw get all gunky and was about to throw it away that I realized that  the brush would fit.  A small squirt of dish soap and a couple of swishes with the brush, and my tumbler straw was clean again.  Hooray!

Now I can enjoy my smoothies without the stress of having to rinse my straw right away, and I don't have a bunch of strawless tumblers in my cabinet.  I love simple solutions!
