I love making my own cleaning supplies. One of my favorite homemade cleaning solutions has been homemade laundry detergent. For months I have been making laundry detergent out of Fels Naptha bar soap, Borax, Washing Soda, and water. I worked out the math for the recipe I was using - $1.88 for 3 gallons/128 loads of Laundry Detergent. The best part is that the detergent works really well. I love it! So then I was browsing Pinterest and came across a post for "laundry sauce" from budget101.com. I was intrigued. Laundry sauce is just like the detergent I was already making only super concentrated. It has the same amount of Fels Naptha, Borax, and Washing Soda, but much less water. Instead of 3 gallons of detergent, I would end up with only 2 mason jars, but still be able to do the same amount of laundry.
How to Make Laundry Sauce
To make this wonderful laundry sauce, start by grating a bar of Fels Naptha.
Next, bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a large pot. Add the Fels Naptha and allow to completely melt over medium heat.
Once the Fels Naptha is melted, it's time to add 1 cup each of Borax and Washing Soda and continue cooking for about 5 more minutes.
Once all the ingredients are mixed together, remove the pot from heat and allow to cool slightly.
The next step is where I did things a little differently than the instructions on budget101.com. Instead of dividing the detergent between 2 mason jars, I put the detergent straight into my blender.
Leave the detergent alone for 3 - 4 hours. The detergent will separate into 2 layers.
Let me reiterate the 3 - 4 hours. I think I waited a little too long because the top layer hardened more than I would have liked. Next, the layers need to be blended back together.
Like I said, I waited a little too long, and had to keep scraping down the sides of my blender. Be careful when beginning to blend. I accidently splashed out some of the liquid when I tried to stir the detergent before blending.
After the laundry sauce is all blended, divide it between 2 mason jars. I simply used a rubber spatula to do this.
Since this laundry sauce looks so much like mayonnaise, make sure to label it 🙂 To use the laundry sauce, add 1 Tablespoon per load of laundry. Since the sauce is so thick, I hold the tablespoon under the water as it runs into the washing machine.
I have already done several loads of laundry with this laundry sauce and as you can see, it has hardly put a dent. I'm very happy with this laundry sauce. It works wonderfully and takes up barely any space. Love it!!!

Does it work for front load washers?
Yes
Where do you buy your Borax? I live in London… and can't find any; only substitutes. Would it work with these? Thanks 🙂
Maybe a dumb question but…do you use that blender for food too or is it dedicated to things like this?
I do use the blender for food as well. I probably washed it out about 5 times after making the laundry sauce though 🙂
Borax can be found in almost all of our grocery stores in the states. I really don't know if a substitute would work. Maybe you can order some Borax online, it shouldn't be expensive.
I really like the idea of putting everything in the blender right away! My question is do you add any water to it after you put in the heated ingredients. The other recipes add water to the jars after you divide the ingredients in them. Thanks!
The given information is very helpful. Thanks for providing such a useful information.

My washer lid locks when you turn on the washer. Any suggestion on putting it into a jug and pouring it instead of the mason jar?
I am wondering the same thing. Do I need to add water like other recipes I've seen?
I didn't add water to the jars afterwards 🙂
I have another post on homemade laundry detergent that is much more liquid. Take a look under my cleaning section 🙂
Do you think you could make "pods" with this scooping it into a designated ice tray? Does it need to stay sealed?
Wash & fold laundry service is a great convenient method of having your laundry done by professionals, and it is available almost everywhere. There are no special methods used when using a service like this, as there is with dry cleaning. The main advantage is that you can save the time and the hassle by having your laundry done by a professional.

Until the moment you put it into the jars. Then it started to be pretty nice. I'll try to make something similar. Wish me a luck not to stuck on the sexy chats and make what I want!
Wow its a great surprise!!…..What A present serprise for all. please read attentively. After building a laundromat service, all you have to do is keep the machinery running, correct any problems, maintain a spotless area, and collect your money from the machines. Owning and operating a laundromat service is is somewhat easy to do, but the difficulty is in selecting the proper location and not over-paying for a laundromat.Read more at- Coin laundry in toronto
