At this point in mommyhood, I've changed thousands of diapers. Along the way, I've learned a few things - a.) I can change a diaper almost anywhere b.) Huggies Little Movers Plus are by far my favorite diapers and c.) my hubby will use any excuse to get out of diaper changing. Back when our son was 3 weeks old, my hubby had one of those horrible diaper changing experiences that I thought only happened in the movies. Since that fateful day he has not changed another dirty diaper.... our little guy is almost 2 years old. Now every time my husband discovers that there is a dirty diaper, he quickly hands the baby over to me claiming "I just can't deal with all that."
Does that sound familiar? Or what about "But I don't know where everything is" or "I can't stand the smell" or the ridiculous "you're so much better at it than I am." Blah, blah, blah...... I have no problem changing the baby's diaper, but as I'm getting busier with everything that's going on, I need my husband to change at least the occasional diaper. That's why I decided it was time to create a "No Excuses" diaper changing station.
This diaper changing station has everything laid out (and labeled) that my hubby could possibly need. I have a changing pad, wipes, hand sanitizer, surgical face masks, disposable gloves, instructions, a toy to distract baby, and of course my favorite diapers, Huggies Little Movers Plus.
Another thing I have learned from so many diaper changes is that I hate spending time and money running to the store for diapers all of the time. That's why I like to buy Huggies Little Movers Plus at Costco.
It's a great value and I even got these Huggies Little Movers Plus on sale. Right now Huggies Little Movers Plus (which are for babies sizes 3,4,5, and 6) are $36.99 after the $6 discount. They are regularly $42.99 and have free shipping. For babies in sizes 1 and 2, there are Huggies Little Snugglers Plus which are also on sale with a $6 discount. They are regularly $37.49 so with the discount they are $31.49 and also has free shipping. Both of these discounts are available until 9/25/16. With 198 diapers, this box will last us four to six weeks. I don't need to waste money on gas running to the store every week just for diapers. And my little guy loves to play with the empty box.
Back to getting my hubby to change a dirty diaper... his #1 excuse is that he doesn't know where everything is. With this changing station he definitely can't say that anymore. I used to keep everything for diaper changing in the little guy's top drawer. Now I have everything laid out on top of the dresser, but I think it looks neat and tidy like this.
The labels probably aren't necessary, but like I said, this is a "no excuses" diaper changing station. And who doesn't love cute labels anyway?
I've included these labels as a free printable for you. I left 2 of the labels blank so you can fill in what you need if you have another idea for other "no excuses" items on your changing table. And there are nursery rhyme instructions included too. You can download the printable here.
The surgical masks and disposable gloves are for people who suffer from the "ick" factor of changing diapers, like my husband.
I think sanitizer is just a good idea in general.
A diaper pail on the side and this "no excuses" diaper changing station is complete.
As I mentioned before, I've changed a lot of diapers as a mom, and I've tried many different diaper brands. Huggies Little Movers Plus are my diaper of choice because I think they really are the best. My little guy stays clean and dry and has never had a diaper rash with these. And the diapers can actually keep up with him with their double grip strips even though he is so active. Huggies Little Movers Plus (and Little Snugglers Plus) are the most absorbent diapers with up to 12 hours of protection. That's what the "Plus" means and they are only available at Costco.
So Huggies Little Movers Plus will always be on the diaper changing station, even after my husband gets used to diaper changing and no longer has an excuse.
Do you have any advice on getting your hubby, or whoever it is helping you out, to change a dirty diaper? And if you'd like to see more fun parenting tips and tutorials check out some of these ideas from other blogger.
