Fall is my favorite time of year.  There is something so comforting about warm sweaters and the tastes of the season. This time of year I love curling up with a good book or to watch a movie with a nice hot beverage.  Although, this pumpkin pie spiced hot chocolate does not have any pumpkin in it, it will remind you of pumpkin pie.

Have you ever tried to the hot cocoa recipe on the side of the Hershey's Cocoa powder box?  It's delicious.  I used that recipe as the base for this pumpkin pie spiced hot chocolate, with a few adjustments.  I like my hot chocolate pretty darn sweet.  If my sweet tooth is a little too intense for you, add a little less sugar and cocoa powder than my recipe calls for.  Either way, the addition of pumpkin pie spice to the hot chocolate recipe is like entering yum city!

It was the perfect day for making this hot chocolate.  I have been having so much fun playing with my Cricut Explore™ to make Halloween projects.  I had picked up these mugs at Dollar Tree this week and couldn't wait to spookify them with some vinyl.

I've been seeing a lot of hot chocolate recipes lately, but they all seem to be for huge amounts.  The little guy is my hot chocolate drinking partner, so I wanted to make enough just for 2 people. Once the hot chocolate was ready and in our new mugs, I added whipped cream and some sprinkles.  Perfection! Pumpkin Pie Spiced Hot Chocolate (serves 2) 1/3 cup sugar 1/4 cup Hershey's cocoa powder 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice dash of salt 1/3 cup hot water 3 cups milk 2/3 teaspoons vanilla 1.  Combine sugar, cocoa powder, pumpkin pie spice, salt and water in a pan.  Bring to a boil. 2.  Stir for about 2 minutes. 3.  Add milk and heat but do not boil. 4.  Add vanilla and serve.
